Some people believe that there should be
fixed punishments for each type of crime. Others however, argue that the
circumstances of and individual crime, and the motivation for committing it,
should always be taken into account when deciding on the punishment.
There is some debate as to fixed punishments are the best way to
judge people. Some people might say that punishing people without any caring
their circumstance is not fair. However, in my opinion, fixed punishments are
less likely to have biased attitude because of the following reasons.
First, we do not know the truth of the
circumstance. In other words, if somebody made their story up, we could not
know if it is faked one or not. For example, in many countries, psychological
challenges are best way to less their punishment. Thus, many people pretend
their illness because it can give a chance to make an excuse. Likewise, it is
almost impossible to know the faithfulness of someone's story.
Second, it could lead to the unfair judgment
due to we could have biased opinion. According to the scientists, handsome
people are more likely to have less punishment because they seem not like
commit crimes. Likewise, we can see many results that alarming us that our
prejudgment could make unfair judgment.
In
summary, I believe fixed punishments are the best way to judge people. Not only
because it can give fairness, which is not biased, but also because we simple
do not know the truth circumstance of the people.
